Acacia Quartet with Emile Cantor & Laurentiu Sbarcea

  • Orange Regional Conservatorium 73A Hill Street Orange, NSW, 2800 Australia (map)

Acacia Quartet and international guests Emile Cantor & Laurentiu Sbarcea present a program of string sextets:

Antonin Dvorak - String Sextet in A major, Op. 48

Lyle Chan - String Sextet (New Work)

Johannes Brahms - String Sextet No. 2 in G major, Op. 36

Acacia Quartet has invited international guest artists Emile Cantor, viola & Laurentiu Sbarcea, cello to join them for a tour of string sextets. Emile & Laurentiu are members of the internationally acclaimed Orpheus Quartet which has been at the forefront of chamber music since they founded in 1987. Both musicians have been teaching at international festivals and music academies for many years, hold professorships in Essen, Cologne, Barcelona and Ljubljana and are regularly invited to master classes in Belgium, Finland, Germany, Spain, Sweden and Switzerland.

One of Acacia’s closest friends, composer Lyle Chan, has agreed to write a new work for string sextet for this tour, which will be performed with two of the most beautiful and well-loved string sextets, Dvorak’s Op. 48 and Brahms’ Op. 36. Acacia Quartet is extremely excited to share the stage with these two chamber music legends and can’t wait to experience their wonderful playing and wealth of knowledge firsthand in this wonderful program.
