partnerships

"Here at the ORC, we see community involvement as a priority."

Being a true Community Music Resource for the region is not just about opening our doors and inviting people in; It's very much about going out and contributing, enhancing, giving of our resources in and through other sectors of the community. For some time, this has been our philosophy; developing partnerships with groups and organisations in the broader community has proven to be a most effective and rewarding way of achieving this.

The ORC regularly embarks on projects with organisations including:

Music in the Gardens 2009
  • Orange Regional Vignerons Association
  • Friends of the Botanic Gardens
  • Orange PCYC
  • the FOOD group
  • Rotary
  • Orange Theatre Company
  • Greater Western Area Health Service
  • Charles Sturt University
  • Parkes Symphony Orchestra
  • West Wyalong Cultural Committee
  • Bland Shire Council
  • Orange City Library and Gallery
  • OCTEC inc.

Our partnerships with local schools, government and non-government, see the ORC contributing to curricular and curriculum-support programs (choral, band, percussion, guitar and strings) in up to 20 schools. We also contribute to the HSC examination and preparation process as required.

Orange Botanical Gardens - The Orange Regional Conservatorium collaborates with the Friends of the Orange Botanical Gardens to bring Music to the Gardens to music lovers. The Music in the Gardens concerts are the first of approximately 40 Public Concerts the ORC organises each year in which professional, student and amateur musicians enrich the cultural life of the region and gain valuable experience through exposure of their talents.

Belgravia - Since 2005 the Orange Regional Conservatorium and Belgravia Vineyards have delighted audiences with annual vineyard concerts during FOOD Week, matching beautiful wines and delicious food with stunning views and heavenly Opera music. Combining the musical talents of ORC performers, local opera singers and Sydney opera professionals, Opera Under the Stars has been enjoyed by local music enthusiasts and visiting FOODies. Belgravia and the ORC are building their partnership further with fundraising events for the Conservatorium and diverse musical events showcasing the best Orange has to offer.

GWAHS - The Orange Regional Conservatorium have a strong relationship with the Greater Western Area Health Service (Mental Health Drug and Alcohol Services). With annual concerts to celebrate Mental Health Week , the collaboration has also coordinated the Arts Health and Wellbeing symposium which comprises of exhibitions, guest speakers and performances by members of the Mental Health Community. "A strong link has been made between music and mental health," ORC Director Graham Sattler says. "At the ORC we acknowledge the ability music has to help people suffering from mental health issues and offer music therapy to sufferers."

Orange City Council - With the Orange City Council providing substantial funding for the new teaching studios, the Orange Regional Conservatorium counts them as one of their strongest supporters. In return, the ORC contributes to important community events such as the annual Seniors Week concert.

Union Bank - Each Sunday during the warmer months, there is nothing better than taking in the atmosphere of the Union Bank with lunch under the Magnolia tree, a glass of chardonnay and music coordinated by the Orange Regional Conservatorium. Delicious!
