“Orangecon offers one of the country’s most comprehensive music education programs…”

Sounds like a grandiose claim? Well let’s just run through a few of the most frequently asked questions to help us test that claim.
What is the process of becoming a part of the ORC learning community?

Who can learn?
What can I Learn?
Am I too young?
Am I too old?
and…
What do I need (to start off with)?

The ORC offers tuition in all orchestral instruments, Keyboard (Piano and Electronic), Voice, Guitars, Drum Kit, Celtic Harp and Bagpipes. Although our origins are in the classical tradition, we now have an energetic (and growing) Contemporary Studies Unit. All prospective students are invited to meet with the director, so that we can look at all the opportunities and options, making sure we can best meet your needs and desires.

In addition to one-to-one and group vocal and instrumental lessons, we have over 20 ensembles, which, meeting weekly, develop skills in a social, team-orientated environment. These ensembles cater for all ages and stages, and are involved in regular community-based performance events.

Our programs start off with Early Childhood Music, catering for the pre-schooler (12 months – 5 years), progressing through instrumental and vocal options for school-age students, complementing with theory and musicianship classes, through to HSC support and preparation for tertiary and career options. We also have a booming adult learner community. It’s never too late!

And as far as what you need to begin with…nothing. Well, an interest in exploring the joy of music making, for sure; but in terms of instruments etc. let us take care of that, we have instruments for hire, and are committed to our mission of guiding you along the path of musical activity and enjoyment.

And if you live in a remote part of the state, remember that we can deliver lessons via videoconferencing, at the same rate as face-to-face!
