Previously, John has been a piper in the: 1st Bn Scots Guards, Toronto City Police in Canada, Pipe Major of the Sydney Thistle Highland Pipe Band in the late 70's.
In 1998, John introduced piping tuition at Kinross Wolaroi School at the request of the then Principal, Mr A E S Anderson. He resigned last year after 10 rewarding years with the School.
