Prem Love - Head of Woodwind &
Ensembles Program Director (Flute)

Prem's music education began with recorder lessons when he was six and then flute lessons from the age of nine.

Prem studied Flute, Piano, Saxophone and Jazz Improvisation at the Conservatorium High School. Here he also gained his Certificate of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music (CSCM).

Prem studied with Virginia Taylor and Vernon Hill at the Canberra School of Music, Australian National University, where he gained his Bachelor of Music (Performance).

During his time in Canberra, Prem twice recorded for the ABC's "Young Australia" program, both as soloist with the Canberra School of Music Chamber Orchestra and as a chamber musician with the Nielsen Wind Quintet.

Prem also participated in Australian National Academy of Music (ANAM) programs for three years. Typically, these programs were two week intensive courses consisting of lessons, master classes, chamber music and concerts with leading international artists.

Prior to taking up the position of Teacher in Flute at the Orange Regional Conservatorium, Prem worked in various Sydney Schools as a Flute teacher and Conductor.

Prem now teaches at the Mitchell Conservatorium, Bathurst and the Orange Regional Conservatorium where he is Teacher in Flute and Director of the ORC Senior Flute ensemble, ORC Wind ensemble and the Orange Youth Orchestra.

As a Performer, Prem gives solo and chamber music performances throughout the year in the Orange Region, as well as performing with the Macquarie Philharmonia and the Orange Symphony Orchestra

Laith Ismail - Oboe, Clarinet, Saxophone, Bassoon

Laith Ismail graduated with a Master in Fine Arts from Gnessin State Musical Pedagogical Institute, Moscow, where he qualified as a Concert Performer in Oboe, Music Teacher and Orchestra Conductor. He joined the Iraqi National Symphony Orchestra and toured Iraq, Russia and Azerbaijan. In 1991-92 conducted the Jordanian String Orchestra at the National Music Conservatory, Amman, Jordan, and performed in concerts as oboe soloist in numerous symphony and chamber concerts with the above orchestras and the Baghdad Chamber Music Group.

He has taught Theory, Aural, Music Appreciation, Flute and Recorder at the Music and Ballet School, Baghdad and Musicianship at National Music Conservatory, Amman.

Since coming to Australia he has played oboe with Willoughby Symphony Orchestra (1993) and Balmain Sinfonia 1994-95 and is now resident in Orange teaching and performing in many of the concerts undertaken by Orange Regional Conservatorium.

 



Phillip Podreka - Clarinet

Philip Podreka is currently completing a Bachelor of Music in Education at the Sydney Conservatorium of Music where he studies Clarinet with Peter Jenkin (Opera Australia) and Catherine McCorkill (Australia Ensemble).

Philip has performed as concert master of the Sydney Conservatorium of Music Wind Symphony, and principal clarinet in the Orange Symphony Orchestra over 6 years. He has taught highschool classes at James Ruse Agricultural High School and Marrickville Highschool, and private tuition at the Orange Regional Conservatorium since the beginning of 2008.

 



Dennis Dorwick - Flute

Dennis Dorwick was trained in the US where he received a Bachelor of Music Education from Wartburg College (Iowa, USA) and a Master of Music degree from Northwestern University (Illinois USA) where he studied with Walfrid Kujala of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra. After four years of teaching, interrupted by three years of playing in the 5th Army headquarters band near Chicago, he came to Australia to teach in state schools in Geelong. Soon he was offered a position at Geelong Grammar School where he spent 21 years. He came to Orange in 2004 where he joined the staff at the conservatorium where he teaches musicianship, flute, and conducts Encore orchestra and a junior flute ensemble. He recently became an Australian citizen and now holds dual citizenship.
