String Programs

 

PRIVATE TUITION

Private tuition is the largest element of the string activities. The String Staff teach over 100 students in Orange, with travelling from Forbes, Dubbo and West Wyalong for lessons. ORC String staff organise many workshops throughout the year in solo and chamber music performance as well as teaching support for string teachers in broader regional areas. They provide further opportunities by holding string workshops, group lessons and private lessons via video conferencing. Please see below for more info on our current programs.

All string students are encouraged to take part in ensembles. Ensemble playing is an important part in enhancing the student's skills and offers more performance opportunities.

There are currently over 45 string students who play in 6 ORC string ensembles.

 

SCHOOLS STRING PROGRAMS

ORC currently provides group string programs to:

  • Orange Anglican Grammar School
  • Errowenbang Public School
  • Molong Central School

 

 

 

COMMUNITY STRING PROGRAMS
 

The ORC has a strong involvement with the Orange Police Citizens Youth Club (PCYC), who offer group lessons in various instruments. Opportunities are offered for further involvement in ORC's programs through scholarships and continuing private lessons.

 
The string department has been providing violin lessons there for a number of years. There are currently more than 20 violin students taking part in further study as a result of these classes.

 

STRING WORKSHOPS

ORC’s String department has evolved into a highly active and dedicated team that is committed to developing string performance practice and pedagogy.

String workshops are usually held over 2 or 3 days and are aimed to inspire a large group players, generally of varying standards. Sessions include full string orchestra, open lessons, technique classes and even teacher training.

Thanks to the generous support of the Godfrey Turner Memorial Trust, ORC's string staff are able to enlist some of Australia's finest musicians to help offer the participants even broader experiences.
