ORGANISATION
PROFILE
The Orange Regional Conservatorium is a non-profit Central West community organisation providing musical education and performance opportunities for all members of our region. The ORC was born when the Orange Music Association (established in 1989) and Orange Symphony Orchestra merged in 1999, since then, total student numbers have grown to over 800.

In addition to the regular face-to-face instrumental, vocal and academic tuition, the ORC has developed a Videoconferencing-based tuition program to provide music education access to remote students in the Western region.
The ORC produces a series of approximately 40 Public Concerts each year in which professional, student and amateur musicians enrich the cultural life of the region and gain valuable experience through exposure of their talents.
Concert programs include the “Music in the Gardens” series at the Orange Botanic Gardens, the “Hear it on the Grape Vine” series - a collaborative venture with the Orange Regional Vignerons Association, Toddler’s Proms, Senior’s Concerts and visiting and emerging performers’ showcase concerts.
Our Concerts involve citizens of all ages and stages who hail from the immediate and surrounding communities. Over 900 musicians perform and thousands of locals and visitors to the community attend these concerts. Concerts take place in locations such as Orange, Parkes, Canowindra, Condobolin, and West Wyalong.
ORC runs over 20 weekly in-house ensembles, including Orange Symphony Orchestra, Orange Youth Orchestra, Orange Conservatorium Youth Choir, Symphonic Choir, Concert Band, Junior String Ensembles, Brass Ensembles, Flute and Wind Ensembles Encore (Adult Recreational) Orchestra and several Chamber ensembles. Throughout the year we run one, two and three day workshops in Orange and at remote locations to foster and encourage enthusiasm in music performance in specific interest and instrument groups
An essential element of the ORC's function in the community is its collaborative and facilitative role; adding support to over 18 schools through curricular and co-curricular programs, providing a venue for a number of Schools' HSC examination sessions, and embarking on regular projects with groups like the Orange Regional Vignerons Association, Friends of the Botanic Gardens, Orange PCYC, the FOOD group, Orange Starsearch, Rotary, the Orange Theatre Company, Wellington Fundraisers, Greater Western Area Health Services and Charles Sturt University.
The Orange Regional Conservatorium strives to be the most active regional community arts body in NSW and is considered to be best practice in the area of regional music education.
